This doesn't surprise me, the points based system eliminated the Working Holiday visa (which Indian nationals had been eligible for), this really leaves student visas as the only option for people who would like to experience UK life but don't qualify for a tier 1 or 2 visa. I don't know if I believe that increased numbers necessarily means an increased number of "bogus" students, it simply reflects the limited options people have under this new system.

I think instead of complaining and moaning all the time regarding the rise of the number of students ,we should look at it through a positive side ie uk will benefit from it from an economic angle bearing in mind there is a huge national debt. An increase in the number of students does not mean most students are bogus. You will always have the odd ones that will be ready to cheat the systems but i think the new system in place is better than a few years ago.

I think new point base system make it's tougher to pass it as they said 'Raise the bar' but on the other hand sometimes it's look easier for me ... 1. you got enough money 2. enrol Tier 4 school so HO can not refuse you if you got a correct documents and follow the rules.

This also doesn't account for the large numbers of studentswho have had to leave the UK because they have had their extensions/switches to Tier 4 refused. That is where the real progress has been made. if you are not a legitimate student then it is much harder to remain.
