Hello,

I raised a question about this sometime last year but I now have additional information to move this app forward, I would appreciate some help please.

I submitted a dependency application last year to the HO based on hubby's HSMP visa however decision hasnt been made yet.

In the mean time, I have to report weekly due to a previous application that wasnt granted.

I have now been told by my reporting centre that if I want to work, I can submit a 'permission to work' app directly to them and they would decide based on their "usual criteria" - the only thing is I dont know what this criteria is and what my application letter should include.

Personally I just need to get out and make myself useful and also plead on compassionate grounds as we were bereaved last year and it would really just help to get on with life if I could begin to use my talent and skills.

Has anyone made such applications before? What process do they follow at reporting centres to make a decision whether i can work or not?

Help will be much appreciated.

Thank you

You can apply to work if your application has been pending for over a year. You need to show that there is a need for you to work etc. If not working is having an effect on your mental health due to bereavement and this is documented with your doctor, and your doctor has suggested you keep your self busy then you can also attach a letter from your doctor stating this.

Ok thank you.

I dont have anything from the doctor but the reporting centre suspended my signing on following the bereavement so hopefully they will be compassionate enough to understand that.

Hmm, on the other hand - not sure if they will regard this application as over a year yet. I have been reporting now for 2 years and been through the court process until last Feb when I originally submitted the dependency app but HO came back to advise it was the wrong form and then there was problem taking funds from my card so I had to sent them a PO in the end...by the time the application was eventually received, it was May.

Does this count as more than a year?

Kind Regards

The one year bench mark is usually for asylum applications, this however does not stop you from requesting permission. The year would count from when the application was submitted.
