Hi all

I read the article from Tony saying, " UK Border Agency announced that these plans [English tests] will be implemented from 29 November 2010"

so i got a question. Is this means the English test is needed for all the applications made after 29 november 2010
i am planning to apply in the 2nd week of october, should i take the test before hand or just apply with out the ESOL test

could someone clarify
Thanks for your time

It looks as though it will apply to all applying after the 28th November. You should be okay. But this will be confirmed when the plans are rolled out.

Thanks vic.
I am in UK now , i dont mind taking the tests
But IELTS test takes overall 20-25 days for booking and getting the results
So once i go back to India in october and I want to apply immediately
didnt wan to wait for 20 days for the exams,
so if its needed i will take ASAP
Thats why i posted the same topic for the second time

it will be helpful if someone or homeoffice confirms the rules and how its gonna work

I doubt they have even worked this out themselves yet.

My sister-in-law handed her settlement application in at Pakistan and the staff at the vac there scared her silly by saying that English tests were now in force, and all applicants had to pass the test before visa is granted. She asked them when this had happened and got a range of replies from a couple of weeks ago to a few days ago. She asked them if she needed to go to test centre to complete the exam, and they said that the home office would call her and test her over the phone!!!
She was so worried until I assured her that the vac was speaking utter rubbish. She also heard them saying that the cap on students had now been implemented.
I can't believe they are saying this to people. I think complaint emails are going to be sent so they don't scare anymore people.
