Hi
I applied on the 31st of May and on the 23rd of last month, I received a letter from the Border agency requesting my husband's British passport and my children's full birth certificates within 21 days. Haven't heard anything since.

Me and my wife both got ILR within 9 weeks after applying - My experience says (also in the cases of my friends') - between 8-10 weeks for a straight forward application - if they asked for some more documentations then add another 3/4 weeks.

Any news on yours? It has been eight weeks since I received the letter confirming they had it. Mine was to transfer my INR entry visa to my new passport, I have been here since 2004 as a settlement wife and thought mine was straight forward.

I think the postman is thinking I am weird as I watch him everyday coming sown the street. Posted Image

Transfers of status have no time line and seem to go to the back of the queue.

Thank you for your reply. I must say that blows. We got our daughters back in weeks a few years ago ( when her passport expired). I have a vacation booked for
departure on Aug 22. Booked it last September. I had no idea it would take this/that long.

Pity. It's not actually an essential thing to do, which is why I usually advise people not to bother.

However, I have found that if you start hassling them they actually start to deal with it. I'd write to them, with evidence of the holiday, asking them to deal with it immediately. Send the letter by recorded delivery, and follow it with a phone call a week later. Say in the letter that if they can't process the application that you just want the passports sent back. That should be enough for them to get the file from the bottom of the pile and get on with it. You should have enough time.
