Hey ya,

I'm new to this forum. I'm in the UK on an Ancestor Visa which is expiring this year in April.

I would like to know if I am able to extend my ancestry visa and if so the steps I need to take?

I've been in the UK on this visa since 2007.

Thanks for your help.

Pu can apply for permanent residency if you like. Take a look on the ancestry visa forum and other posts will show what you need to do this.

Hi there, thanks for your response. Does that mean I have to apply for ILR, or can I extend the ancestry?
thanks.

You can do either.

Why don't you want to go for ILR?

When did you initially enter the UK with the UK ancestry visa in 2007?

Unfortunately, you entered more than 3 months late. You cannot complete your 5-year qualifying period before your leave expires. Therefore, you cannot apply for ILR in-time.

Apply for an extension shortly before your leave expires.

Hi there,

I just realised I actually realised I arrived in the UK 23rd May 2007, my visa began on 18th April 2007. I was out of the UK for all of August.

Am I able to go for IRL based on this? or would you recommend ancestory extention?

thanks
