You qualify on the 5th anniversary of your arrival. You can apply 28 days before this date. It looks as though your visa expires only a little before this.

I'd say you can apply for ILR but make a postal application.

hi i have been here for 5 years on an ancestry visa, due to when i arrived i can't get IRL at this time.

my questions are:

1. can i extend my visa for another 5 years no problem?

2. do the bank statements have to be originals? or is print outs that have been signed, stamped and dated by my bank OK?

3. what form do i need to complete?

thanks Victoria, looks like I've got the wrong form - i had the FLR (BID)...ok thanks for that.

can you please clarify question 2 for me? i do need originals, or is stamped and signed from the bank suffice?

FLR BID was withdrawn last week.

Why don't you want to go for ILR?

When did you arrive?
When does your leave expire?
Note that if you had arrived within 3 months from the effective date of your visa, then you may still apply for ILR.
