I am about to apply for a Tier 2 General visa from outside the UK.  I am married but will apply only for my own visa.  For some reasons, it's difficult for me to include the original marriage certificate in the application so I wonder if I have to include one.

Appendix A of the VAF9 application form states that "Unless single, please provide evidence of your marital status e.g. marriage or civil partnership certificate".  However, I am applying online and do not need VAF9 at all.  As far as I understand Supporting documents guidance - Tier 2 (General), only my dependant needs to prove the relationship.  I didn't find any other source of information though I was looking into Immigration rules - part 6a which mainly discusses the documents to support the points I claim.

I don't see any reason why I would need to prove that I am married since it doesn't influence my points at all, but that note in VAF9 worries me.  Will appreciate any comments, thank you in advance!

If you are not including a dependant then the relationship does not need to be evidenced.
