My partner has been offered a job in the US and myself and our children want to go with him. I am a Canadian citizen with ILR and have lived here for 24 years and have never applied for citizenship (stupid me!).

Applying here, and waiting for citizenship is going to take a long time and that's time my partner is away from me and the children. We will be getting married in January.

Am I able to leave for the US once my application is sent off and being processed, and then come back for the ceremony? I know there is a future intentions requirement but my partner and I do not intend to be living in the US for more than a couple of years, though I can't say for certain.

Please help, I am feeling very overwhelmed and don't know what to do.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes you can. That's not a problem.
