Hi John, can you please help me by replying the below query. i will be really thankful to you.

My DLR application is pending with ukba, i do not have National Insurance no  and my wife is british citizen, and her child tax credits have been stoped..HMRC asks us to claim jointly but i do not have NI NO . i want to ask do i have to apply for NI NO and then followi it from there accordingly .?
But i have read in other thread you mentioned Law relating to Child tax credits  has been changed since april 2009( if i am not mistaken to understand it) , i want to ask  what is it ? can  you bit explain it please , i will really appreciate your help and thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not a benefits expert but the UKBA guidance from August 2012 says that Child Tax Credit can still be claimed when one member of the couple is subject to immigration control. I suggest applying for a NINo and then trying with HMRC again
