We submitted my wife's citizenship application on 13th Nov and received the approval letter on 6th December. Now we also have the ceremony date on 19th December. All the form filling and the questions I have asked on this forum, the information gathering, the airfares, the fees, the paperwork copies, the trips to the Post Office, to the airport, the cost of sending money to my wife before she received her visa, the cost of international phone cards so we could talk to each other, the flights back and forth within Mexico (where she was born) to retrieve additional documents/certificates, the hoops we had to jump through and the broken glass we had to walk on in getting married in Mexico, the worry, the anxiety....all of these things are behind us. I can at last dispose of all the paperwork I have accumulated since this whole visa/ILR/citizenship journey began – a WHOLE LOT of paperwork. I do have to say a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who gave input to questions I had along the way – some of them must have seemed a little dumb since I have never been down this path before. Sincerest thanks to all. I would be happy to give more details if anyone is interested..........kind of a "been there, done that, got the t-shirt" kind of experience that others might benefit from. It's such a weight off my shoulders and now we can truly enjoy our lives together. My wife is now looking forward to being able to vote. Thanks once again to all who helped me.
