(I could not find relevant details to my situation on this site, hence posting the following):

My step-daughter (together with my wife) are presently in the UK on LTR Spouse visa, with 15 months left until we would apply for indefinite leave to remain for them both.

Seperately to this process we have been hoping to that I can adopt my step-daughter as soon as we are able to (now that we're all living in the UK) and we will first recieve an initial visit from the adoption agency next week, then I believe we can decide when to put an application into the courts after this visit.

Can anyone advise whether we are allowed, within my step-daughter's/wife's current LTR visa status, to commence adoption proceding now?

Even if allowed, would it be in any way detrimental to our forthcoming ILR application?

It is very important life moment for my step-daughter and the family and we would just like to do it the best possible way and especailly also with regard with not harming the ILR applications in the future.

(nb: there is no record or trace of step daughter's father, not even on the birth certificate, so there are no issues with regards to otehr parental consent)

Adoption is not affected by immigration status.
