Hi,

I am currently on PSW (expiring on 26 January 2012). I am an Indian National. I have finished my Masters degree from UK. Currently, I am working at a salary of £20,000 in one Laboratory. However, my employer do not have placement in Tier 2 category for my job anymore.

Therefore, I am looking to extend my visa in two possible options.

• Tier 1 - Entrepreneur (via PSW Route)
  
  
• Tier 2 - General (via PSW route)

1, With Tier 1 option, I know that:

• £50,000 is required.
  
• If funds are with third party, require approval letter for accessing funds

I have my university classmate, a british national, who is willing to start & fund a company with me. How feasible is this option? Is it also possible if there are people/company who can help in showing £50,000 of funds for me?

2. With Tier 2 - General, I know that:

• No Maintenance Fund required
  
• Job Salary : £20,000 or above.

I am looking for a job which is licensed by UKBA and can sponsor me. How can I apply for such jobs and where to find it?


I would be grateful if  anyone could help me with my queries.

A list of Tier 2 sponsors can be found here: www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/employersandsponsors/pointsbasedsystem/pbsregisterofsponsors
You could contact the ones in your local area and see if they have anything for you.

The policy guidance for Tier 1 states that the funds must be from:

Quote

(i) one or more registered venture capital firms regulated by the Financial Services Authority;
(ii) one or more UK entrepreneurial seed funding competitions which is listed as endorsed on
the UK Trade & Investment website; or
(iii) one or more UK Government Departments or Devolved Government Departments in
Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, which is made available by the Department(s) for the
specific purpose of establishing or expanding a UK business.
