Hi

My wifes application for Citizenship has been successful. She will receive a letter in 3 weeks to attend a ceremony. I understand the ceremony costs £80! Is attending the ceremony a must requirement? Im thinking she could save that £80 and put it towards her British passport application! Not easy making money now a days!

On a separate note I would like to thank everyone on here who has assisted me with my wifes spouse visa application in 2009 to her Naturalisation application in 2017. You guys have been fantastic. Keep up the good work! :)

Your wife will only become a British citizen when she has attended the ceremony, so there's no way to avoid the fee. This would have been included in her BC application fee.

Thank you for your response Susi. I payed £1236 when applying for Naturalisation. Are you saying this includes £80 for the ceremony fee? If application was not successful then would £80 have been refunded?
