I would suggest that we open up a new thread to track progress of applications submitted and the progress as it happens.
It may help people who are in the process of applying to get a perspective!!
People who have submitted or have achieved success may post their stories here.

Details such as the following could be provided:

NCS or Postal
If NCS, which centre
Date of submission or posting
CRITERIA - 5 yr stay (4 + 1 yr ILR)
Date of debit of debit/credit card
Date of receipt of acknowledgement
Date of receipt of approval
Date of Ceremony
Date of appln. for passport
Method used
Date of Receipt

ANY HELP IN PROVIDING INFORMATION WOULD BENEFIT THE GROUP!!!!

KIND REGARDS

This is my completed timeline from start to end:

NCS or Postal : POSTAL SPECIAL DELIVERY
Date of submission or posting : 20/3/08 (Put on HOME OFFICE SYSTEM 25/03/08)
CRITERIA : 3YR SPOUSE
Date of debit of debit/credit card : 20/05/08 (CHEQUE CLEARED)
Date of receipt of acknowledgement : 17/05/08 (sent out 2nd Class from HOME OFFICE on 14/05/08)
Date of receipt of approval from HO : 05/08/2008 (Dated 29/07/08)
Date of receipt of invitation letter : 09/08/2008 (Dated 01/08/08)
Date of Ceremony : 20/08/2008
Date of appln. for passport : 21/08/2008
Method used : Post Office Check & Send
Date of Passport Interview: 30/08/08
Date of receipt of submitted documents for British passport : 01/09/08
Date of Receipt of British Passport :
03/09/08

The whole process for me took a little over 5 months and my only regret was not using NCS as i noticed applicants who used it had a quicker response. I suggest future applicants to use this method. It may cost around 30-40 but its worth it.

Good luck to all and would like to thank this forum for all the help and support.

Hi, Sanasodha. I know you're very keen to receive British citizenship. You've posted many, many times in the last week alone on the issue. I don't mean to censor you in any way; that's the point of having a forum! But may I offer an (unsolicited) observation from an impartial perspective? Why don't you just let the bureaucrats do their work. It hasn't been that long. In fact, it's still less than a month. For the sake of your health, maybe you should try to detach yourself a bit from the waiting process. I know what that's like, of course, and that you really just want a response. But if you focus on other things instead in your life, the time will pass more quickly. And when the approval letter does come, it will be a pleasant surprise.

That said, I hope it comes for you sooner rather than later. Waiting is never fun. But at this stage, and with all the delays that they are experiencing, it might be kinder on yourself to let the Home Office just get on with it. At least in these early days.

All the best, L_L

Hi Shad,

Not yet!!! But if you look at my other thread, i spoke to HO on Monday and they said they are currently working on end of feb applications. But if you look at FEPOTS reply his was posted march 4th. Its only a matter of 2-3 weeks id say before they get to mine. :)

I dont know if it makes a difference if you post it yourself or thru NCS. Oh well!!!

I was under the impression that one of the advantages of going through the NCS is that you do get priority treatment and usually a faster response - plus, they'll notorize your documents so you don't have to be without them for 6 mos or however long the application process ends up taking... someone correct me if I'm wrong.
